Programming Remote to Control a Cable Box or an RCA DSS

Receiver

If your cable box has its own remote to change channels,

you will probably be able to program the TV’s remote to

control both the TV and the device. To program the

remote, just press and hold the

DSS•CABLE button, then enter

the two-digit code number for your brand of cable box.

Refer to the chart below to find the code number for your

cable box. Press the

POWER button next to confirm

operation. You may need to try each of the code numbers

listed until you find the one that works.

After the TV’s remote is programmed, you’ll be able to

turn on the cable box by pressing the

DSS•CABLE button, then

POWER. You can change channels on the cable box by

pressing the

CHANNEL buttons whenever the remote is in the

“cable” mode. To put the remote in the “cable mode”,

press the

CABLE button. Press the TV button to put the

remote back into the TV mode so the remote buttons will

control the TV again.

Programming Remote To Control Cable Box

with remote only

Refer to the chart at the left to find the code number that

corresponds to the brand name of your cable box. Keep

this number in mind. If more than one number is listed,

you may need to try each one separately until you find the

one that works.

1 Press and hold DSS•CABLE button on remote.

2 Press two number buttons (first one, then the other) to enter

the code number for your brand of cable box.

3 Point the remote at the cable box and press the power button

to test the code number.

• If the right number was entered, the cable box should turn

on. Pressing the

CHANNEL buttons should then also change

channels on the cable box.

• If the cable box does not react to the remote (or if the remote

turns on the cable box but does not change channels), repeat

steps 1 thru 3 with another code number.

Operating Notes: After the remote is programmed, it will turn on

the cable box whenever you press

DSS•CABLE and then POWER.

To turn off the cable box, press DSS•CABLE, then POWER.

To change channels on the cable box, press DSS•CABLE then CHANNEL

up or down.

Programming Remote To control an RCA DSS

Receiver

with remote only

The TV's remote has been pre-programmed to control the

RCA DSS

Digital Satellite System receiver.

To control RCA DSS

receiver, first press the DSS•CABLE

button to put the remote in the “DSS

mode”. The buttons

shown below will then control the DSS

receiver.

1 Press DSS•CABLE button to put the remote in “DSS

mode.”

Use the MOVE buttons and the MENU•PROG button to navigate

through the DSS

on-screen menus and features.
